Gaining Experience in Health Care and Wellness
Bridgewater State University has several options for exploring careers, developing skills and experiencing health care and wellness professions. They include:
- Taking introductory or elective courses in areas of interest including Exercise Physiology, Health Studies and Physical Education majors or minors, Biology including the Biomedical and Pre-medicine concentration, Health Sciences including their individual concentrations, Communications and Disorders, and Data Analytics, Social Work major and Social Welfare minor, Sociology major and minors, and the Psychology major and minor.
- Participate in the campus community including applying to become a Peer Educator, volunteering through BSU’s Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, or joining the Biology, Biochemistry or Premedical Clubs, and the PreHealth Club.
- Take a deeper dive into information and opportunity through BSU’s Health Careers Guide and if interested in any of the careers listed on that site, schedule an appointment with the pre-health advisor, Dr. Alexander Zilz.
- Gaining practical experience through internships, including the Health Career Connections funded internship, or in your community by volunteering, participating in undergraduate research, or finding field-related part-time work in health care or wellness settings.
