Finally we are edging toward Winter Break! For many of us – students, faculty and staff – these Breaks may give us a little breathing room to slow down and relax, eat well, and refresh. Even if you are working part or full-time during the Break – like I did when I was a college student – the weeks may seem a little less hectic.

It’s also a great time to plan ahead for the upcoming semester. What challenges did you encounter this past semester. Did you struggle to find an internship? Did you not manage your time well? Could you budget better? While your mind is less preoccupied with calculus, writing papers or keeping up with readings, make a quick list of challenges. Then pick one day a week during Break and put aside a few hours that day to solve at least one problem. You could:
- Google options
- Ask your question on AI
- Reach out to an office on campus that can help you (Did you know that BSU offices are still open during Winter Break?).
One day a week for a few hours work could make a big difference in your next semester’s experience.
And Career Services and Internships is available all Winter Break, Monday – Friday, 9-5, virtual or in-person, to help you with these possible challenges:
- Resume or cover letters
- Internship or job search
- LinkedIn profiles and networking
- Career and life design
- Choosing a major
And more…so feel free to reach out to us on your one-day-a-week challenge session and we will find a day and time to help you!
