Why I’m going to BSU’s Education Career Fair as a sophomore…

It is never too early to start searching for opportunities and building experience! You may be wondering…

As an underclassman, what’s the point of going if I’m not graduating yet?

As a freshman, I attended the BSU Education Career Fair to see what school districts and organizations I may be interested in. Despite being new to college, I found it crucial to experience firsthand interactions with potential employers. I was able to practice my one-on-one networking skills and also get a feel for what each organization had to offer. Through this, I was able to gain the confidence I needed for internship interviews and feel more prepared for the event this year.

Now, as a sophomore, I have realized how important it is to attend the Education Career Fair. It never hurts to network with and apply to the positions available from the organizations at the fair. You never know who you may make an impression on at the event. Employers may take an interest in your resume or even just the conversation you had with them. Currently, the education field is facing a shortage of teachers and educators, leading many school districts to actively seek individuals for a range of part-time positions like substitute teachers, internship roles, and even extended school year staff this summer. It is very likely that many of these areas will be hiring for these positions, no matter our graduation year! Why not land an opportunity in the field now to gain experience before you graduate?

Get yourself out there and come to the BSU Education Career Fair on May 1st from 4:00 – 6:00pm in the RSU Ballroom! Don’t have a resume yet? Check out out Resume Writing Guide and stop by drop-ins in RSU 104, Monday – Thursday between 11am – 1pm, for a review.
