Explore Career Interests with Informational Interviews

One of the best ways to explore your career interests is to conduct informational interviews.  An informational interview is simply the term for speaking with a person working in a career or industry that sparks your curiosity.  The goal of an informational interview is for you to gain a deeper understanding of a career or career pathway which will help you decide whether to pursue it in the future.

Our office plans events throughout the academic year to make it easy for students to connect with working professionals in a variety of careers.  Some of these working professionals are alumni of BSU and are happy to be back on-campus speaking to current students.  These events are called Industry Insiders.  Remember to log-in to Handshake so that you may view the upcoming Industry Insider events and register to attend any that you find interesting.

Also, our office has compiled this list which will get you started.  Feel free to ask any other career-related questions that you think of during your conversation.  Remember, if you want to schedule a meeting with a Career Advisor to discuss this topic in more detail you can call our office at 508-531-1328 or log-in to Handshake to schedule an appointment.
