Checking in on Your Wellness

Feeling stressed lately?   It may be time to check on what is impacting your stress levels.

The first stage of Life Design@BSU is to learn about yourself, right now, at this moment.  In my Designing Your BSU class, in which I collaborate with my students to assess themselves, I like to talk about the wellness factor and even devote a full class to exploring where they may have imbalances in their lives.  I recently found a great resource from the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance that I plan to add as an activity.  It’s called the Wellness Wheel and it’s a great way to examine 7 key areas of wellness:  Physical, Financial, Environmental, Intellectual, Occupational, Social, and Spiritual.  It’s an easy assessment to complete:  You answer a few questions then rank the response on the Wellness Wheel.  If you think that would be fun – or educational – to try this activity, you can find the Wellness Wheel Workbook here

What does wellness have to do with Life Design@BSU?   Part of life design is working towards solving life and career problems and one of the indications of a problem in your life is feeling “stuck.”   Trying to pinpoint why you are feeling this way is sometimes hard to do, in this very busy, complicated world in which we all live.   An exercise like the Wellness Wheel might just give you some Aha moments and start you down the path of solving that “stuck” feeling.
